I seem to recall CCP asking what players would think of a -1 mid +1 low version of the tempest in another announcement thread around the kronos expansion somewhere...
Problem with tempest is it has the same slot layout with typhoon FI. Plus with double damage bonus, dps is mediocre with armor tank. Typhoon FI is much better IMO than tempest.
Id like to see a low moved to a mid to have a shield BS other than mael. Nanopest returns? |

I think the phoon is in a good spot atm. Both the t1 and fleet versions. The pest is.... well i dont fly them because they have no role to speak of really. The fleet pest is a alittle better because the extra grid allows for some fun fits (triple repd, dual cap boosted or arty doctrine).
The big issue i have is with the fleet cane. The whole "its the old cane" irks me alil. There is no more "old cane" anymore, the old cane died with TE and speed nerf, now its just an overpriced husk of its former self. Every other faction BC has tracking/application bonuses, except the cane. Stuck with the same dmg/rof bonus as the t1 version. I would rather see the fleet cane look something like this:
Hurricane fleet issue 10% damage per level 7.5% tracking per level
And IF my projection changes go through, faction BCs will have a very strong role with application and range bonuses (like destroyers). This will seperate them from CS and the t1 variants. Since CS will have either range + tank or application + tank. The t1s will only have range, but less application and tank.
A couple faction bcs in a gang will definitely hurt the cruiser blobs with those bonuses. Unlike now, where faction bc barely see any use.

I'll credit Stich with the idea himself, as my thread had mostly gone dormant for at least a few weeks when he posted that. I don't think the navy BS need a huge buff, except maybe the navy geddon (i can't think of a good role for it). I cannot speak on all the navy/fleet ships since i haven't flown them all, but out of the 2 i have flown i have this to say.
Typhoon FI Very good ship. Extremely flexible between guns/missiles. Can fit dual heavy neuts with bonused missiles and has a large drone bay to work with as well. Probably one of my favorite ships to fly in general.
Tempest FI Outside a few niche fits i've made (triple rep armor tank), its kind of meh. It does see fleet use though, so in that role it seems to perform fairly well. I'd like to see it maybe get a 10% dmg 7.5% tracking bonus to make it a little more distinctive from t1 pest, and make it better as an arty platform.

Fleet phoon is sexy. Just not sure of its use in AT. I mean RHML works well on it, or with proper support cruise missiles can get huge volley amounts (i want to say 7-8k).

Something i noticed while flying the maelstrom that is kind of odd for a BS.
It has a tiny cargo bay. In general, BS probably need a buff (some more than others) to their cargo. The reason I single the maelstrom out is that it has a shield boost bonus. Its intended to be using and storing cap boosters, yet has a fairly small cargo capacity. The vaga used to suffer from this, but CCP heard my plee and buffed it during 1st round of HAC rebalances (when muninn got speed buff).
So as an addition to the hopefully soon BS/BC rebalance, i'd like CCP to also consider buffing their cargo capacities.
Quick comparo:
Maelstrom: 550m3 Rokh: 625m3 Hyperion: 675m3 Abaddon: 525m3
Tempest: 600m3 Mega: 675m3 Raven : 665m3 Geddon: 600m3
The Abaddon is actually worse than the mael, and is another ship that insists on having a cap booster. However, laser ammo does not take up the heaps of room projectile ammo does (at least if you carry 2k of EMP/fusion/PP/sabot).
I'd say bumping the abaddon up at least another 75m3 (600m3) and the mael up 100m3 (650m3).
